Kerepesi Cemetery, also known as Fiume Road Graveyard, is one of Budapestโs most important historic cemeteries. Opened in 1847, it contains a large number of mausoleums, memorials, and monumental sculptures, and is often described as one of the cityโs most significant burial grounds.
Kerepesi Cemetery appears in Dune: Part Two (2024), Red Sparrow (2018), and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (2008). Dune: Part Two uses the Labor Movement Mausoleum within the cemetery, Red Sparrow uses the same mausoleum area for its Moscow-set material, and IMDb lists Kerepesi Cemetery as a filming location for The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
In Dune: Part Two (2024), the Labor Movement Mausoleum at Kerepesi Cemetery is used for the scene in which Emperor Shaddam IV receives Paulโs message. The mausoleumโs severe modernist design fits the filmโs imperial setting and is used as part of the Emperorโs quarters.
In Red Sparrow (2018), the Labor Movement Mausoleum is used for the Moscow โGorky Parkโ sequence in which CIA agent Nate Nash tries to meet the Russian mole known as Marble. The cemetery is therefore used not as a graveyard in the story, but as part of the filmโs Soviet setting.
In The Boy in the Striped Pajamas (2008), Kerepesi Cemetery is listed as one of the filmโs Budapest locations. Public location sources confirm the cemetery was used, although the specific scene is less clearly documented in the sources than it is for Dune: Part Two and Red Sparrow.
