Country

Country: Hungary

Hungary has become one of Central Europe’s most important filming countries, with Budapest often used both as itself and as a stand-in for cities such as Paris, Berlin, Moscow and Vienna. The Hungarian capital’s mixture of grand boulevards, historic architecture, thermal baths, railway stations and Soviet-era urban spaces has appeared in films such as “Munich”, “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy”, “Red Sparrow”, “Black Widow” and “A Good Day to Die Hard”. Hungary is also important for studio-based productions, with Origo Studios in Budapest and Korda Studios in Etyek used for major international films, including “Blade Runner 2049”. From Cold War thrillers and spy films to science fiction and historical drama, Hungary’s combination of architecture, studio facilities and varied cityscapes has made it a regular choice for large-scale international productions.
