Slovakia has attracted international productions with its castles, mountains, forests, medieval towns and relatively compact range of Central European landscapes. The country is especially associated with “Dragonheart”, which used several Slovak locations including Spiš Castle, Čachtice Castle, Strečno Castle and the Slovak Paradise area. Bratislava and other parts of Slovakia have also appeared in productions such as “The Peacemaker”, “Behind Enemy Lines”, “Red Sparrow” and “The Last Legion”. The High Tatras, Carpathian scenery and historic towns give Slovakia a strong screen identity for fantasy, war films, historical drama and thrillers, while its studio and production infrastructure has helped bring larger international projects to the country.
