Romsdalsgondolen is a gondola lift in Åndalsnes in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. The gondola runs from the town centre up to the mountain Nesaksla, where Eggen Restaurant sits 708 metres above sea level. From the top, there are wide views over Åndalsnes, the Romsdalsfjord, the Rauma river, Romsdalshorn and the surrounding mountains. The gondola opened in 2021 and quickly became one of the most recognisable modern attractions in the Romsdal region. On screen, it gives the landscape a strong visual identity, combining the town below, the steep mountainside and the high viewpoint above Åndalsnes.

Romsdalsgondolen appears in Succession, in “Kill List”, episode 5 of season 4. The episode takes the Roy family and Waystar Royco executives to Norway for negotiations with Lukas Matsson and GoJo. The gondola is used both as a real transport link to Eggen Restaurant and as part of the episode’s visual presentation of Norway, with the cabins moving through the mountain landscape above Åndalsnes. The location is closely connected to Eggen Restaurant, where Kendall and Roman have their final negotiation with Matsson.

In Succession (2023), Romsdalsgondolen appears in “Kill List”, episode 5 of season 4. The gondola is used when the characters travel up to Eggen Restaurant, the mountaintop restaurant where the negotiations with Lukas Matsson take place. The ride gives the episode a strong sense of arrival, moving the characters away from the hotel and into a more exposed mountain setting above Åndalsnes. Eggen Restaurant sits at the top of Nesaksla and is reached by the gondola, making the journey part of the geography of the scene rather than only an establishing shot. The episode also visually compresses the region: Romsdalsgondolen can be seen in shots connected to Juvet Landscape Hotel, even though the gondola is actually in Åndalsnes, around 50 minutes away by road from Juvet in Valldal. This makes the Norwegian locations appear much closer together in the series than they are in real life.
