Nesaksla

Nesaksla is the mountain above Åndalsnes in Møre og Romsdal, Norway. The summit area is reached by Romsdalsgondolen from the town centre, with Eggen Restaurant located near the upper gondola station. From Nesaksla there are wide views over Åndalsnes, the Romsdalsfjord, the Rauma river and the surrounding Romsdal mountains. The combination of exposed mountain paths, modern gondola access, panoramic viewpoints and steep landscape makes Nesaksla a strong screen location in its own right, separate from both Romsdalsgondolen and Eggen Restaurant.

Nesaksla appears in Succession, in “Kill List”, episode 5 of season 4. While Eggen Restaurant is used for the larger company meeting between Waystar Royco and GoJo, Nesaksla is used for the later outdoor negotiation between Kendall Roy, Roman Roy and Lukas Matsson. The location gives the scene a more open and exposed atmosphere than the restaurant meeting, with the characters walking through the mountain landscape while the future of the company is discussed.

In Succession (2023), Nesaksla appears in “Kill List”, episode 5 of season 4. The scene takes place on a new day after the larger company gathering at Eggen Restaurant and the party back at Juvet Landscape Hotel. This time, only Kendall and Roman take Romsdalsgondolen up the mountain, while Lukas Matsson is already waiting on Nesaksla after arriving by helicopter. The three men continue the negotiations while walking across the mountain, with the open landscape and wide views making the conversation feel more exposed and confrontational. The scene ends with Kendall and Roman waiting for the gondola as Matsson’s helicopter flies away in the distance, underlining the power imbalance between them and Matsson.
