Joker Sæbø

Joker Sæbø is a grocery store in the village of Sæbø in Ørsta municipality, Møre og Romsdal, Norway. The store is located on Øyragata, close to the fjord and the small centre of the village. Sæbø sits by Hjørundfjorden, surrounded by steep Sunnmøre mountains.

Joker Sæbø appears in Black Widow (2021), during the Norway section of the film. The store is easy to recognise from the large “J. Slettedal” sign outside the building, as well as the Joker branding connected to the village shop. The theatrical version only uses the location briefly, but a longer scene set inside the shop was filmed and later appeared online and in extended/deleted-scene material. The location is connected to Natasha Romanoff’s period in hiding after the events of Captain America: Civil War, when she is on the run and living away from the larger superhero world.

In Black Widow (2021), Joker Sæbø appears during the early Norway scenes with Natasha Romanoff. After fleeing from Secretary Ross, Natasha is hiding in Norway and has settled into a quiet, isolated routine far from the Avengers. The grocery store is part of this everyday village setting, with the large “J. Slettedal” sign making the building especially recognisable from the outside. In the longer version of the scene, Natasha goes inside the store to shop and is served by shop manager Torbjørn Slettedal. This extended shop scene was cut from the theatrical version, but it gives the location a clearer role in Natasha’s temporary Norwegian life before the arrival of the Red Dust package pulls her back into the unfinished story of the Red Room and her past.
