Devín Castle is a ruined medieval fortress in the Devín borough of Bratislava, Slovakia, standing on a high cliff above the confluence of the Danube and Morava rivers. One of the oldest historic castle sites in Slovakia, it has a dramatic frontier position and a broken silhouette that make it especially effective on screen.
In Kull the Conqueror (1997), Devín Castle is used as one of the film’s fortress locations. Its ruined walls, cliffside position, and commanding views suit the film’s sword-and-sorcery setting and give the production a convincing medieval stronghold.
