Black Widow (2021) is an American superhero film directed by Cate Shortland and the first solo film centred on Natasha Romanoff in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scarlett Johansson returns as Natasha, with the story set after the events of “Captain America: Civil War” and before “Avengers: Infinity War”. Forced to confront the hidden parts of her past, Natasha reconnects with Yelena Belova, Alexei Shostakov and Melina Vostokoff, her former surrogate family from the Red Room programme. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, Ray Winstone and O-T Fagbenle appear in key roles. The film mixes spy thriller, family drama and large-scale Marvel action, while giving Natasha a more personal story about control, trauma, identity and the people left behind by the Red Room.
Black Widow was filmed in several countries, including Norway, Hungary, England, Morocco and Georgia, with the locations used to build a story that moves from remote isolation to urban chase scenes and secret military-style facilities. Norway is one of the film’s most distinctive location areas, used for the scenes where Natasha hides after going on the run. Sæbø in Ørsta, Møre og Romsdal, appears as the small Norwegian village where she arrives by ferry, surrounded by the mountains and fjords of Hjørundfjorden. The local Joker shop in Sæbø is also connected to the production, with the large J. Slettedal sign outside making the building easy to recognise. A longer scene was filmed inside the shop, where Natasha buys supplies and is served by shop manager Torbjørn Slettedal, but this material was cut from the theatrical version and later became known through reports, online clips and extended material. Other Norwegian locations connected to the film include the Sæbø–Leknes ferry area, Trollstigen and Åndalsnes/Rauma. Budapest is another major part of the film’s identity, finally showing the city long referenced in Natasha and Hawkeye’s backstory, with streets, rooftops and apartment areas used for the chase and reunion material involving Natasha and Yelena. Pinewood Studios in England was used for major studio work and constructed sets, while Morocco and Georgia provided additional action and story locations. The result is a film with a broad international look, but the Norwegian opening gives Black Widow one of its clearest real-world location identities: a fugitive Avenger hiding in a quiet fjord village before being pulled back into the violent world she tried to escape.

Joker Sæbø appears in Black Widow, during the Norway section of the film. The store is easy to recognise from the large J. Slettedal sign outside the building.

Trollstigen has appeared in several productions like Maattrraan (2012), Black Widow (2021), Børning 3 (2020) and Succession (2018–2023).
