The Monastery of the Holy Trinity is one of the six active Eastern Orthodox monasteries in Meteora, Greece. It is widely considered the mostย visually dramaticย because it sits atop a slender, isolated pillar of rock rising 400 meters above the valley floor.
It is the most difficult monastery to reach. To enter, visitors must hike down a path and then climb approximatelyย 140 to 150 steep stepsย carved directly into the rock face.
It gained international fame as a primary filming location for the 1981ย James Bondย movie,ย For Your Eyes Only. In the film, it served as the villain’s mountaintop retreat, “St. Cyril’s.” The climax was filmed perched on high rock pillars.
