Country

Country: Croatia

Croatia has become one of Europe’s most recognisable filming destinations, with its Adriatic coastline, medieval towns and historic architecture often standing in for fictional or foreign locations. Dubrovnik is especially well known as a screen location, appearing as King’s Landing in “Game of Thrones” and as the casino city Canto Bight in “Star Wars: The Last Jedi”. Other Croatian locations have also gained international attention, including Split and Diocletian’s Palace, used in “Game of Thrones”, and the island of Vis, which stood in for the fictional Greek island of Kalokairi in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again”. Rovinj, Zagreb, Rijeka and other parts of Croatia were also used for “The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard”, showing how the country’s coastal towns, old city streets and varied landscapes continue to attract major international productions.
