Kampen Church is a neo-Gothic brick church in the Kampen district of Oslo, standing at Bøgata 1 by Thorbjørn Egners plass. It was consecrated in 1882 and designed by architect Jacob Wilhelm Nordan. Because of its elevated position and tall spire, it is one of the most recognisable church buildings on Oslo’s east side.
Kampen Church appears in Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole (2026), Olsenbanden for full musikk (1976), Mot i brøstet (1993–1997), and Hemmelighetene i B-by (1982–). In some productions the church itself is shown directly, while in others the square immediately in front of it is used as part of the setting.
In Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole (2026), Kampen Church is seen from above at night. The building’s position on the hill and its distinctive spire make it easy to identify in this type of establishing shot.
In Olsenbanden for full musikk (1976), Kampen Church is used for the wedding of Basse and Gry. The church is directly tied to one of the film’s best-known ceremonial scenes.
In Mot i brøstet (1993–1997), Kampen Church is used for the wedding of Henry and Elna in the series finale. The church was therefore used in another well-known Norwegian screen wedding scene.
In Hemmelighetene i B-by (1982–), the square in front of Kampen Church played a major part in the action. The church and its immediate surroundings were therefore part of the series’ visual setting, even when the drama was centred on the area in front of the building rather than inside the church itself.
