Gamlebyen gravlund, also known in English as Gamlebyen Cemetery, is a historic cemetery in Oslo linked to both the old Oslo Hospital cemetery and later nineteenth-century expansion. The site includes Gamlebyen gravkapell, built in 1877 and later rebuilt and modernised in 1934–35. Today the cemetery serves several Oslo parishes and remains one of the older burial grounds in the city.

Gamlebyen gravlund appears in Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole (2026). The cemetery and chapel fit naturally into the series’ use of real Oslo locations, and Gamlebyen gravkapell provides the setting for one of the early funeral scenes.

In Jo Nesbø’s Detective Hole (2026), Gamlebyen gravkapell is used for Ellen Gjelten’s funeral. After the service, Harry Hole is seen sitting on a bench not far from the chapel, near the old fountain, where he takes a drink. The cemetery setting gives the sequence a quiet and sombre background, while the chapel itself makes the location clearly identifiable.
