Michael C. Hall (born 1 February 1971) is an American actor known for intense, finely controlled performances in television, theatre, and film. He first gained major attention as David Fisher in HBOโs Six Feet Under (2001โ2005), where his portrayal of grief, restraint, and emotional volatility became one of the seriesโ defining elements and earned him strong critical recognition.
Hall became a global star as Dexter Morgan in Showtimeโs Dexter (2006โ2013), playing a forensic blood-spatter analyst who leads a double life as a serial killer. He reprised the role in Dexter: New Blood (2021โ2022), Dexter: Resurrection (2025โ) and has remained closely associated with the characterโs place in modern TV history. Beyond Dexter, Hall has worked in film and on stage, including playing the title role in Broadwayโs Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and he has continued taking on diverse projects that highlight both his dramatic intensity and versatility.
