The Comic Strip, now known as Comic Strip Live, is a stand-up comedy club at 1568 Second Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. Opened in the 1970s, it became one of New York’s key comedy venues and is closely associated with the early careers of comedians such as Jerry Seinfeld, Eddie Murphy, and Chris Rock.

The Comic Strip appears in The Jim Gaffigan Show (2015–2016) and Jerry Before Seinfeld (2017). In both productions, the club is used in direct connection with stand-up comedy and with the New York comedy scene itself.

In The Jim Gaffigan Show (2015–2016), The Comic Strip appears in the episode “The List” (Season 2, Episode 4). The club is used as a real New York comedy venue within the series’ city setting.

In Jerry Before Seinfeld (2017), the club is used as both performance venue and part of the subject itself, as Jerry Seinfeld returns to the place where his stand-up career began.
