The Jim Gaffigan Show is an American sitcom that ran from 2015 to 2016 and was created by Jim Gaffigan and Peter Tolan. Starring Gaffigan as a fictionalised version of himself, the series follows a stand-up comedian trying to balance career, marriage and life with five children in a cramped two-bedroom Manhattan apartment. Much of its charm comes from how closely it draws on Gaffiganโs real family life, turning everyday frustrations, food obsessions and parental exhaustion into a warm, low-key comedy rather than a glossy conventional sitcom.
Although the show is set very firmly in New York City, its production blended real New York locations with studio work. Filming took place in New York, including at recognisable spots such as Katzโs Delicatessen and the Gotham Comedy Club, which helped give the series an authentic Manhattan flavour. At the same time, the family apartment itself was recreated on a soundstage as an exact replica of the Gaffigansโ former home, allowing the show to keep its intimate domestic setting consistent while still grounding the wider world in real city locations. That mix gives the series a believable New York identity without relying entirely on on-location shooting.
