Bishops Park in Fulham, London, is a riverside park on the north bank of the Thames, close to Fulham Palace, All Saints Church and Putney Bridge. The park has a calm, open character, with paths, lawns, trees and views along the river, making it feel quite removed from the more crowded parts of central London. Its location beside the Thames and near historic Fulham landmarks gives it a strong sense of place, while still being ordinary enough to work as a believable everyday London setting.
Bishops Park is best known to film fans from The Omen (1976). The film uses several London and Surrey locations, and the Fulham section is one of its most memorable. Bishops Park and the nearby All Saints Church are used together in the sequence involving Father Brennan, turning a peaceful riverside area into part of the filmโs growing atmosphere of dread.
In The Omen (1976), Father Brennan meets Robert Thorn, played by Gregory Peck, in Bishops Park beside the Thames. Brennan warns Thorn about Damien and quotes from the Book of Revelation, trying to convince him that the child is connected to something evil. The calm park setting makes the scene feel even more unsettling, because the warning is delivered in broad daylight in an otherwise normal London location. Shortly afterwards, Brennan is killed outside nearby All Saints Church, Fulham, when a lightning rod falls and impales him. This links Bishops Park directly to one of the filmโs most famous death scenes, even though the actual killing happens at the church rather than inside the park itself.
