American Cut is a modern steakhouse at 363 Greenwich Street in Tribeca, New York. The restaurant opened in 2013 and was created as a contemporary take on the classic New York steakhouse, combining large dining rooms, private dining spaces, Art Deco-inspired details, dark wood, leather seating and a polished downtown atmosphere. Its scale and style make it well suited to scenes involving wealth, power, business dinners and controlled social tension, while its Tribeca location places it in one of Manhattan’s most recognisable restaurant districts.
American Cut appears in Dexter: Resurrection, where the restaurant is used for a key scene involving Dexter Morgan, Harrison Morgan and Leon Prater. The scene begins as a dinner between Dexter and Harrison, but becomes dangerous when Prater unexpectedly arrives. Prater still believes Dexter is Red Schmidt, a serial killer in his private circle, and is surprised to discover that “Red” has a son. The restaurant setting makes the scene especially uncomfortable, turning what should have been a father-and-son dinner into a moment where Dexter’s hidden life suddenly collides with Harrison.
In Dexter: Resurrection (2025), American Cut appears at the end of “The Kill Room Where It Happens”, episode 8 of season 1, and continues into “Touched by an Ángel”, episode 9. Dexter is at the restaurant having dinner with his son Harrison when Leon Prater suddenly appears at their table. Prater believes Dexter is Red Schmidt, and his surprise at seeing Harrison immediately exposes how fragile Dexter’s position has become. The moment forces Dexter to deal with Prater in front of his son, while Harrison is pulled closer to the dangerous world Dexter has been trying to keep separate from him. The scene continues in the following episode, where Dexter confronts Prater outside the restaurant and warns him to stay away from Harrison before Dexter and Harrison leave through the back.
