Country: Iceland

Iceland has become a popular filming country because of its glaciers, black sand beaches, waterfalls, lava fields and volcanic landscapes, which are often used to create remote, otherworldly settings. The country has appeared in major productions such as “Batman Begins”, “Interstellar”, “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story”, “Prometheus”, “Oblivion” and “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty”. Vatnajökull and its outlet glaciers have been used for icy wilderness and alien planets, while Reynisfjara, Jökulsárlón and the highlands have provided some of Iceland’s most recognisable screen locations. Iceland was also used extensively in “Game of Thrones”, particularly for scenes beyond the Wall. With its dramatic natural scenery and relatively untouched landscapes, Iceland has become one of Europe’s most distinctive filming locations.
