Harrison Ford (born 13 July 1942) is an American actor and producer best known for playing two of cinema’s most iconic heroes: Han Solo in the Star Wars franchise and Indiana Jones in the Indiana Jones films. After working a string of small roles in the 1960s and early 1970s, he broke through with American Graffiti (1973) before becoming a global star with Star Wars (1977). Ford cemented his reputation as a leading man through the 1980s and 1990s with major hits such as Raiders of the Lost Ark, Witness (which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor), The Fugitive, and Air Force One, balancing blockbuster appeal with more character-driven work. In later years he returned to defining roles in projects like Blade Runner 2049, The Force Awakens, and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, while also taking on new parts in films and television. Off-screen, Ford is known for his long-standing interest in aviation and for supporting environmental and conservation causes.
