Renate Reinsve (born 24 November 1987) is a Norwegian actress known for emotionally precise, character-driven performances in film, television, and theatre. She trained at the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and has also built a strong stage career in Norway, including work connected to Det Norske Teatret in Oslo.
Reinsve made her feature-film debut in Joachim Trierโs Oslo, August 31st (2011), but her international breakthrough came a decade later when Trier cast her as Julie in The Worst Person in the World (2021). Her performance earned her the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actress, turning her into one of the most high-profile Scandinavian actors of her generation.
Since then, she has expanded into higher-profile international work, including the series Presumed Innocent and the film A Different Man (both 2024), while continuing to take on ambitious Nordic projects. She reunited with Trier in Sentimental Value (2025), reinforcing a creative partnership that has become central to her screen career.
