Swifty Laundromat in Hollywood, Florida, is a modest everyday location with an unusual film connection. Located at 1601 N Federal Hwy, the laundromat still retains much of the same look it had in the mid-1990s, making it a recognisable stop for visitors interested in South Florida filming locations. The plain interior, rows of dryers and simple tiled walls give it the kind of ordinary setting that contrasts sharply with the more sensational side of the film it appears in. One of the most noticeable details inside is the sign hanging above the dryers stating that Demi Moore used dryer number 29 in “Striptease”, a small piece of on-site film history that helps link the real location directly to the production.
In “Striptease” (1996), Swifty Laundromat is used for one of the scenes showing Erin Grant’s everyday life away from the club world that dominates much of the film.
