Bloodline is an American psychological thriller series created by Todd A. Kessler, Glenn Kessler and Daniel Zelman. Released on Netflix between 2015 and 2017, it follows the Rayburn family, owners of a long-established seaside inn in the Florida Keys, whose outwardly respectable life begins to unravel when the troubled eldest son, Danny, returns home. What makes the series especially effective is the contrast between its slow-burning family tension and its sunlit coastal setting, turning a place that looks like paradise into the backdrop for guilt, resentment and buried violence.

The series is closely tied to the Florida Keys and was filmed largely in and around Islamorada, whose turquoise water, mangroves, marinas and low-rise island roads give Bloodline much of its identity. The Rayburn family hotel was created through The Moorings Village, while other Keys locations used in the series include places around Islamorada itself as well as nearby Upper Keys settings. Rather than using Florida as a generic warm-weather backdrop, the production builds the showโ€™s atmosphere out of very specific coastal environments: docks, causeways, waterfront bars, dense vegetation and stretches of road suspended between sea and swamp. That strong sense of place is one of the main reasons the series feels so distinctive.
