Baby Driver is a 2017 action thriller written and directed by Edgar Wright, starring Ansel Elgort as Baby, a young getaway driver who uses music to control his tinnitus and synchronise himself with the world around him. Working for the criminal organiser Doc, Baby is drawn into a series of robberies while trying to escape his debt and build a normal life with Debora, a waitress he meets at Boโ€™s Diner. The film stands out for the way its action is choreographed to music, turning car chases, gunfire, walking rhythms and editing into part of the soundtrack. It combines crime thriller, romance, comedy and musical structure into one of the most distinctive action films of the 2010s.

The film is set in Atlanta and was shot mainly in and around the city, making strong use of its downtown streets, highways, car parks and modern urban architecture. The Candler Building on Peachtree Street appears as the bank in the opening robbery, while Peachtree Center, the Healey Building, local streets around downtown Atlanta and other city landmarks help give the film its specific urban identity. The production also used locations in Gainesville and rural Monroe County, but Atlanta is the real centre of the film, not merely a stand-in for another city. Its roads, intersections, towers and car-heavy geography are built directly into the action, making Baby Driver feel like a heist film choreographed through the movement, rhythm and layout of Atlanta itself.
