Ridley Scott (born 30 November 1937) is an English film director and producer known for visually rich, atmospheric filmmaking across science fiction, historical epics, and crime drama. After starting in television and advertising, he made his feature debut with The Duellists (1977) and quickly broke through with Alien (1979), a landmark of sci-fi horror celebrated for its tension and design.
