Jason Alexander (born 23 September 1959) is an American actor, comedian, and director best known for playing George Costanza on the sitcom Seinfeld (1989–1998). With a background in theatre and musical performance, he brought a tightly controlled mix of insecurity, vanity, and frantic energy to George, turning the character into one of television’s most iconic comic creations. His work on the series earned him multiple Emmy and Golden Globe nominations and remains a benchmark for sitcom performance.
Beyond Seinfeld, Alexander has worked extensively on stage, including Broadway, and has done voice acting in animation, notably as the fast-talking gargoyle Hugo in Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996).
