Faye Dunaway (born 14 January 1941) is an American actress known for a run of iconic performances that helped define the New Hollywood era. Trained in theatre, she rose to prominence in the late 1960s with films such as Bonnie and Clyde (1967), where her portrayal of Bonnie Parker became one of cinemaโs most influential screen images, combining glamour with volatility and danger. She followed with major roles in The Thomas Crown Affair (1968) and later delivered one of her most acclaimed performances in Chinatown (1974).
Dunaway won the Academy Award for Best Actress for Network (1976), playing television executive Diana Christensen in a performance celebrated for its icy control and ambition. Her filmography also includes The Towering Inferno (1974), Three Days of the Condor (1975), and the cult-favourite portrayal of Joan Crawford in Mommie Dearest (1981).
