Rock ’n’ Roll High School (1979) is an American musical comedy directed by Allan Arkush and produced by Roger Corman’s New World Pictures. The film stars P. J. Soles as Riff Randell, a rebellious student and obsessive Ramones fan who dreams of giving the band a song she has written. When the authoritarian principal Miss Togar tries to crush the students’ love of rock and roll, Riff and her classmates turn Vince Lombardi High School into a full-scale teenage rebellion, with the Ramones joining the chaos. The film became one of the defining punk-era cult comedies, mixing high-school slapstick, cartoonish anarchy and live Ramones performances.

The main school scenes were filmed at the former Mount Carmel High School at 7011 South Hoover Street in Los Angeles. The school had already closed before the production, which made it possible for the filmmakers to use the campus for the fictional Vince Lombardi High School and the destructive finale. The film was also shot at several other Los Angeles locations, including The Mayan Theatre, which was used for the Ramones concert scenes.
