Country

Country: Netherlands

The Netherlands has been used for a wide range of productions, with Amsterdam by far the country’s most recognisable filming city. Its canals, bridges, narrow streets and historic houses have appeared in films such as “Diamonds Are Forever”, “The Fault in Our Stars”, “Ocean’s Twelve” and “The Hitman’s Bodyguard”. The country has also played an important role in wartime dramas, including “A Bridge Too Far”, which used several Dutch locations connected to Operation Market Garden, and “Black Book”, filmed in and around The Hague, Dordrecht and other parts of the Netherlands. Rotterdam’s modern architecture, Dutch coastal areas and smaller historic towns have also been used on screen, giving the Netherlands a varied film identity built around both old-world cityscapes and contemporary urban design.
