Hotel Edison is a historic Art Deco hotel at 228 West 47th Street in Midtown Manhattan, just off Times Square. Opened in 1931 and designed by Herbert J. Krapp, it is one of the classic theatre-district hotels in New York and is closely tied to Broadway through its location and long history.

In Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014), the hotel’s Rum House bar is used for one of the film’s key New York bar scenes. It is the setting where Riggan Thomson meets theatre critic Tabitha Dickinson.
In Bullets over Broadway (1994), Hotel Edison is used for the penthouse setting in the film. This gives the hotel a more direct dramatic role than a simple exterior appearance.
