Crystal Bar is a bar on East Main Street in downtown Bozeman, Montana. The bar is one of the city’s long-running local drinking spots and sits in the historic downtown area, surrounded by shops, restaurants and other nightlife. It has a rustic bar atmosphere, a busy Main Street setting and a seasonal rooftop bar, making it a natural fit for Yellowstone’s version of Bozeman as a place where ranch hands, locals, music and trouble can easily collide.
Crystal Bar appears in Yellowstone, most notably in “Tall Drink of Water”, episode 3 of season 5. The bar is used for the night out after Lloyd’s birthday celebration, when Beth decides that the bunkhouse crew should go into Bozeman for drinks. The scene brings together several of the Yellowstone ranch characters in a public bar setting, with music, dancing and drinking turning into one of the show’s more memorable bar-fight sequences.
In Yellowstone (2022), Crystal Bar appears in “Tall Drink of Water”, episode 3 of season 5. After Beth has scored a major business victory and the bunkhouse has been celebrating Lloyd’s birthday, she pushes for everyone to continue the night at a bar in Bozeman. Rip, Beth, Lloyd and several of the ranch hands end up at Crystal Bar, where the mood begins as a celebration with music and dancing. The night changes when a woman named Hailey flirts with Rip and then confronts Beth. Beth attacks her with a beer bottle, the bar erupts into a fight, and the police eventually arrive. The scene ends with Beth being arrested for aggravated assault, turning what started as a ranch-hand night out into another example of how quickly Beth’s anger can turn public and destructive.
