Bad Boys for Life is a 2020 action comedy directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, and the third film in the Bad Boys series. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence return as Miami detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, now older, more bruised and forced to confront the fact that their reckless glory days may be behind them. The story begins when Mike is targeted by an assassin connected to his past, pulling the two partners into a case involving revenge, drug cartels, family secrets and a younger tactical unit known as AMMO. Compared with the earlier films, it keeps the fast cars, shootouts and comic bickering, but adds more emphasis on age, regret and loyalty between the two leads.
The film is set in Miami, and the city remains central to its identity, but the production was split between Miami, Atlanta and Mexico. Miami supplies the sunlit coastal atmosphere, streets, waterfronts and police-action energy that define the Bad Boys world, while Atlanta was used for a substantial part of the shoot, including controlled city and action material. The story’s cartel and revenge plot also extends into Mexico, with filming connected to Mexico City and the State of Mexico. This gives Bad Boys for Life a broader visual range than the first film: it still belongs to Miami, with its bright colours, fast roads and tropical urban mood, but it also uses Atlanta and Mexican locations to expand the story into a larger action-thriller world of safe houses, night streets, cartel territory and large-scale set-pieces.

Colony Hotel has appeared in productions including Miami Rhapsody, Dexter and Bad Boys for Life. It is also strongly connected to the Scarface.
