Ontario Mine is one of the historic mining sites in Park City, Utah. The mine was established during Park Cityโ€™s silver-mining boom and became part of the industrial history that shaped the town long before it became known for skiing and film. The surviving mine structures and mountain setting give the area a rugged, functional character that makes it useful for productions needing a location with history, isolation and a harder edge than Park Cityโ€™s more polished resort image.

The location has been used in both horror and modern Western crime drama. It appears in the monster horror film “The Boogens” (1981), which was filmed in several Utah locations including Park City, Kamas, Ontario Mine, Mayflower Mine and Heber. Decades later, Ontario Mine became a recurring location in “Marshals” (2026), where it is used as the exterior of the Marshalsโ€™ headquarters.

In “The Boogens” (1981), Ontario Mine fits directly into the filmโ€™s story about an old silver mine being reopened, releasing the creatures hidden inside. The film uses the Park City mining landscape to give its monster-movie premise a real industrial setting, with old mine areas, mountain-town surroundings and abandoned shafts helping create the sense that something dangerous has been sealed away beneath the town for decades.

In “Marshals” (2026), Ontario Mine is used as the exterior of the Marshalsโ€™ headquarters. The series returns to this location repeatedly, often with an establishing shot of the mine whenever the story moves back to the teamโ€™s base. The faรงade gives the headquarters a distinctive identity, combining law-enforcement drama with the old mining history of Park City. The interior scenes may have been filmed on a studio set or at another location, but the outside of Ontario Mine functions as the recurring visual marker for the Marshalsโ€™ base throughout the series.
