Simon Pegg (born 14 February 1970) is an English actor, comedian, screenwriter, and producer best known for combining sharp wit with an affectionate love of genre cinema. He first became widely recognised in the UK as the co-creator and star of the cult sitcom Spaced (1999–2001), written with Jessica Hynes and directed by Edgar Wright, a series that helped define modern British comedy for a new generation.
Pegg went on to co-write and star in the “Three Flavours Cornetto” trilogy with Wright and Nick Frost: Shaun of the Dead (2004), Hot Fuzz (2007), and The World’s End (2013), films celebrated for blending comedy with horror, action, and science fiction while maintaining strong character chemistry. He also became a major presence in global franchises, playing Benji Dunn in the Mission: Impossible films and Scotty in the modern Star Trek series, bringing humour and warmth to big-budget action and sci-fi.
Alongside acting, Pegg has remained active as a writer and producer, and has worked in voice roles and television as well as film. His career is often associated with smart, self-aware comedy that still takes its stories seriously, making him a distinctive bridge between British humour and mainstream international cinema.
