John Badham (born 25 August 1939) is an English-born American film and television director best known for a run of highly popular, sharply paced mainstream films from the late 1970s through the 1990s.
He broke through in a major way with Saturday Night Fever (1977), then followed with an unusually varied filmography that includes Dracula (1979), the aviation thriller Blue Thunder (1983), the Cold War-era techno-thriller WarGames (1983), the sci-fi comedy Short Circuit (1986), and the hit buddy comedy Stakeout (1987).
Alongside his feature work, Badham has directed extensively for television across multiple decades, remaining a steady presence in American screen entertainment well beyond his peak blockbuster era.
