Charlize Theron (born 7 August 1975) is a South African and American actor and producer known for combining blockbuster star power with acclaimed dramatic range. Raised in Benoni, South Africa, she moved to the United States as a teenager and broke through in the late 1990s with films such as The Devilโ€™s Advocate and The Cider House Rules. Theron gained major critical recognition for her transformative performance as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster (2003), which earned her the Academy Award for Best Actress.

She has since built a career that moves between prestige drama and large-scale action and franchise filmmaking, with notable roles in films including North Country, Young Adult, Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde, and The Fate of the Furious. Theron is also an active producer through her company and has supported projects that emphasise strong character work and female-led storytelling.
