Marshals is a 2026 American neo-western crime drama and police procedural created by Spencer Hudnut, and a sequel/spin-off from the Yellowstone universe. Luke Grimes returns as Kayce Dutton, now drawn away from ranch life and into a specialised U.S. Marshals unit operating in Montana. The series continues Kayceโs story after Yellowstone, placing his background as a former Navy SEAL and Dutton family member inside a more case-driven law-enforcement format. With Logan Marshall-Green, Arielle Kebbel, Ash Santos, Tatanka Means, Brecken Merrill, Mo Brings Plenty and Gil Birmingham among the cast, the series keeps one foot in the Dutton world while shifting the focus toward fugitives, armed operations, family grief and modern frontier policing.
Although Marshals is set in Montana, it was filmed primarily in Utah. Production was based around Summit County and the Wasatch Back, an area already closely connected to the Yellowstone franchise, since the early seasons of Yellowstone also filmed there before moving production to Montana. Park City and the surrounding mountain terrain provide much of the showโs Montana look, with ranch landscapes, forest roads, high-altitude valleys and small-town exteriors standing in for the world Kayce now moves through. This gives the series a visual continuity with the earlier Yellowstone seasons while also supporting its more procedural structure, where wide-open landscapes, isolated roads and rural communities become part of the law-enforcement drama.
Boneyard Saloon is used in Marshals, where it stands in for the fictional Bullet โn Barrel Saloon. In the series, the bar functions as a local watering hole connected to Kayce Duttonโs new life away from Montana. The production redressed the real Boneyard Saloon with fictional Bullet โn Barrel signage, but retained much of the buildingโs existing bar atmosphere, giving the scenes a grounded Western-adjacent setting without turning the location into a full period-style saloon.
Ontario Mine is used as the exterior of the Marshalsโ headquarters. The series returns to this location repeatedly, often with an establishing shot of the mine whenever the story moves back to the teamโs base. The faรงade gives the headquarters a distinctive identity, combining law-enforcement drama with the old mining history of Park City.
