Jerry Seinfeld (born 29 April 1954) is an American comedian, actor, and writer best known as the co-creator and star of the sitcom Seinfeld (1989–1998), one of the most influential and successful comedy series in television history. He built his reputation as a stand-up in the late 1970s and 1980s, developing a style centred on sharp observation and everyday detail, and that sensibility became the foundation of the show he created with Larry David.

Through Seinfeld, he helped popularise a kind of character-driven, “nothing happens” sitcom structure built around social awkwardness, petty grievances, and modern urban life. Beyond the series, Seinfeld has remained a major figure in stand-up and comedy culture, touring extensively and releasing acclaimed specials, while also creating and hosting Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. He has continued to work in writing, producing, and voice performance, and his influence is often traced in the tone and rhythm of contemporary television comedy.
